US Latymerian Bursary

The US Latymerian Bursary is funded by alumni based in the US. Since 2012, they have raised over £200,000 and funded five students for two years in Sixth Form at Latymer Upper School. Currently, they are raising funds for the sixth US Latymerian Bursary (formerly known as the USFOL Bursary).

We rely on gifts of all sizes to continue to offer the US Latymerian Bursary to a talented Sixth Form student. For details on how to donate, please scroll down.

Liam, the fourth US Latymerian Bursary recipient, graduated from Latymer in 2020 and is now in his final year at Claremont McKenna College, studying Liberal Arts. After graduating he met with several members of the US Latymerian Council and other US alumni. Reflecting on his experience since leaving Latymer, he said:

“In a few months I will be graduating from Claremont McKenna College in Southern California, as a PPE & Economics major. In my time here, I’ve studied abroad in Vienna, been a member of CMC’s top ranked Model UN team, been appointed an econometrics tutor, and worked four internships throughout college. Last summer, I lived in New York, working at AlphaSights, and through Model UN have been able to travel to Chapel Hill, Boston, DC, Chicago. I was recently nominated to represent CMC at Duke & UNC’s national PPE colloquium, where I will be participating in an advanced seminar series on philosophy of Artificial Intelligence, with 20 other top students from across North America.

I’ve particularly engaged in my last year in studies in urban economics and applied econometrics and will be capping my college experience with a thesis on the impact of affordable housing requirements on housing supply in California. I’m excited to pursue a career or further studies in economic research or public policy analysis.

As always one of my highlights of the year has been coming home and reconnecting with my friends from Latymer over the holidays. I’m always grateful for the opportunities provided to me by the US Latymerians and their generosity. Latymer uniquely prepared me well for a US college experience, with the elective program, the Extended Project Qualification, and of course the US admissions program and mentorship. I can confidently say without the support of the US Latymerian Bursary I would not be where I am today.”

Without the 100% fee remission this bursary offers, Liam could never have dreamed of taking up his hard-won place. Your gift will help ensure that another student will be able to enjoy these same opportunities.
